It is the job of an Industry Liaison
Officer (ILO) to liaise with industry in order to create and maintain partnerships with
employers and trainers. The ILO can provide information relating to careers in
those industries. This information will be available to students, parents and
teachers at Senior Information Evenings, Senior Schooling Week and through
appointments made individually.
If you are interested in applying for a School-based Apprenticeship or Traineeship (SAT), the ILO can organise work experience or Structured Work Placement to allow you to work for an employer.
The ILO will also advertise SAT positions which are made available to the school through the Group Training companies and
Australian apprenticeship centres. Once the applications have been made, the ILO
will assist students in preparing for interviews by:
- assisting with writing resumes
- assisting with preparing portfolios
- discussing what to wear and do
- staging mock interviews to give
experience in answering questions.
The ILO will attend the sign-up for the
successful candidates as a representative of the school, and ensure that the
ETES form is ready and signed for filing. They will also manage trainees
and ensure that all completed work is recorded by the administration.
