Academy Of Excellence
Leadership Excellence
The Leadership Excellence Program works to build the capabilities of our students by focusing on developing world changing leadership capabilities within the student leadership framework.
Specifically, students:
- If you are elected to a position (e.g. Secretary or President) on the school’s Student Voice Committee, you are required to attend their weekly meetings.
- If you are not elected to a position, you will be a general member of the Student Voice committee and required to attend the fortnightly general meeting.
- Develop their leadership capability through leading at least one (1) school event each term (e.g.primary school experience days, Parent Teacher Interviews, Harmony Week, ReconciliationWeek etc);
- Participate in the schools Leadership Camp; and
- Participate in one (1) leadership program per year (e.g. Turner & Townsend, ABCN, StudentVoice, Sports Captain).
Academic Excellence
The Academic Excellence Program works to build the capabilities of our students by focusing on the key 21st Century skills of collaboration, teamwork, critical thinking, creative thinking and communication.
Students will:
Be involved in at least one (1) ongoing extra-curricular academic activity (e.g. Esports, STEM, Homework Club, tutorial session, Turner & Townsend, ABCN).
Participate in the schools Leadership Camp; and
Complete volunteer work for at least one (1) academic event per term (e.g. Parent Teacher Interview, Science Week, Harmony Week, Reconciliation Week etc)
The Arts Excellence
The Arts Excellence Program aims to extend and enrich students who have an interest in the various areas of “The Arts” - Dance, Drama, Media, Music and Art.
Students will:
- Undertake a specific area of “The Arts” subject as part of their elective options.
- Participate in at least one (1) extra-curricular group in The Arts (i.e. choir, band, dance troupe, Culture Fest) per term.
- Participate in at least one (1) external competition within the school year.
Sports Excellence
The Sports Excellence Program supports students through mentoring, training and education fromour coaches, in basketball, football, volleyball and rugby league.
Students will:
- Undertake training sessions before and after school with highly specialised sport-specific teachers and coaches.
- Further develop skills and teamwork through sports leadership programs/sessions.
- Participate in a variety of interschool, regional, state and national competitions for their sport.

- Captain of WSHS Girls Rugby League to Karyn Murphy Cup Final
- Captain U18 Met East State Championship team
- Represented QLD and Australia at U18 School Girls
