Woodridge State High School prides itself on developing Empowered, Resilient… World Changing students. To foster and build our young people we offer three Excellence Programs:
- Junior Music Academy
- High Performance Sport
- Leadership Excellence & Academic Program
We believe that every student can achieve to high standards given the right time and support and our Scholarships are designed to ensure accessibility to Excellence Programs for all students.
We encourage all students applying for Excellence Programs to also apply for a Scholarship. Details of the programs and scholarships as well as the application process, are outlined below.

Leadership Excellence & Academic Program (LEAP) The Leadership Excellence & Academic Program works to build the capabilities of our students by focusing on the key 21st Century skills of collaboration and teamwork, critical and creative thinking and communication. Specifically, students: - Participate in Tuesday afternoon Enrichment Lessons focused on developing leadership and academic skills.
- Work with an academic mentor at key junctures throughout the year.
- Partake in the Leadership Camp and running of the Group Project.

Full Scholarship - covers school and resource fees, one set of the formal uniform and cost of leadership camp.

Junior Music Academy (JMA) The JMA aims to extend and enrich junior school students who have an interest in music. This program fosters and cultivates music excellence in the areas of composing, performing and responding to music. Specifically, students:
- Undertake specialised JMA classes as part of their elective options.
- Partake in instrumental music lesson and program (including school band).
- Participate in JMA Enrichment class on Tuesday afternoons.

Full Scholarship - covers school and resource fees, one set of the formal uniform, music tuition and music camp.

High Performance Sport (HPS) The HPS Excellence Programs explores traditional Health and Physical Education topics, with an increased depth around students' chosen sport. The program includes basketball, football, volleyball and rugby league. Specifically, students: - Undertake HPE curriculum in HPS classes with highly specialised sport specific teachers and coaches.
- Further develop skills and sportsmanship through HPS Enrichment classes on Tuesday afternoons.
- Participate in interschool sporting and regional competitions for their sport.

Year 7 - Excellence and Scholarship Application Process
Step 1 - Complete the relevant Year 7 Excellence Program and Scholarship Application form.

Please note that while students can apply for more than one Excellence Program, they can only participate in one Excellence Program in Year 7.
Step 2 - Submit the application in person to the Administration Office at Woodridge State High School, or via email to office@woodridgeshs.eq.edu.au. You will also need to supply your students' most recent report card and NAPLAN results (if available).
Applications close on Friday 7th October.
Please note that completion of the application does not guarantee:
- enrolment to Woodridge State High School for Year 7 in 2023;
- entry into the Excellence Program; or,
- receivership of a scholarship.
Step 3 - Applicants will be notified via email if they have been successful in moving to the second stage of the process. The second stage involves participation in an Intensive Day at Woodridge State High School during Term 4 where students will be assessed against specific criteria.
Step 4 - Successful applicants will be notified via email if they have been successful in their application for entry into the Excellence Program and if a scholarship will be provided; details of the enrolment procedure will also be communicated.
Out-of-Catchment - Excellence and Scholarship Application Process
Woodridge State High School operates under an equidistant catchment area. The school's catchment map is available from EdMap.
The school's Programs of Excellence in Academics & Leadership, Junior Academy of Music and High Performance Sport are supported through the allocation of a defined number of places. Places in the Programs of Excellence will only be available to out-of-catchment enrolments once the demand for in-catchment enrolment has been met and sufficient student enrolment capacity has been reserved for future in-catchment growth.

While students can apply for more than one Excellence Program, they can only participate in one Excellence Program.
