Woodridge State High School – Empowered, Resilient… World Changing!

Established in 1972, Woodridge State High School is a dynamic, thriving, and energetic educational community located in the heart of Logan City, Queensland—one of Australia's fastest-growing and most culturally diverse regions. As of June 2024, Logan's population reached 392,339, reflecting a 3.87% growth rate, the highest among Queensland's local government areas.

We proudly acknowledge the Yuggera people as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which our school stands. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and work closely with continuing custodians to embed cultural learning, truth-telling, and respect for Country into our daily practice. This connection is reflected in our curriculum, community partnerships, and the way we celebrate identity and belonging.

At Woodridge SHS, our vision—“Empowered, Resilient… World Changing!"—drives every decision. We are committed to equipping students with the skills, mindset, and experiences needed to thrive in the future world of work, further education, and life beyond school. Our diverse student body creates meaningful opportunities to learn from and with each other, fostering deep appreciation for multiple perspectives.

To build world-changing young people, we offer three Programs of Excellence:

  • Leadership Excellence & Academic Program (LEAP)
  • Junior Music Academy (JMA)
  • High Performance Sport (HPS)

These programs extend and challenge students academically, creatively, and physically, while cultivating personal growth and leadership.

In 2023, Woodridge SHS was honoured as the state winner of the Get Ready Queensland Resilient Australia School Awards and proudly stood as a national finalist—a testament to our commitment to building resilient learners who can navigate complexity with confidence and compassion.

Our school is currently home to approximately 1,100 students, supported through a whole-school approach that champions inclusion, literacy, and future-focused learning. We embed Queensland's Inclusive Education principles across all classrooms, ensuring every student is supported to thrive.

The teaching of reading is deeply embedded within the curriculum, aligned with Queensland's Reading Commitment, helping students become great readers and exceptional writers. Every lesson is designed to cultivate cognition through purposeful questioning, empowering students to think critically and reflectively.

Through our Woodridge World of Work (WWOW) Strategy, we prepare students for life beyond school by embedding career readiness into daily learning. This transforms classrooms into dynamic workspaces where students explore real-world roles, build transferable skills, and develop the confidence to lead their own futures.

Our whole-school priorities:

  1. Great readers, exceptional writers!
  2. Questioning to cultivate cognition
  3. Empowered learners

...guide every aspect of teaching and learning, ensuring that all students are supported to learn and ultimately become Empowered, Resilient… World Changing.

Woodridge SHS continues to experience steady enrolment numbers, operating well above Day 8 figures. Recent infrastructure investment includes eight new classrooms and a multi-purpose hall. In 2025, the Logan City Special School secondary campus will be co-located on our site, marking a new era of inclusive collaboration.

Strategically positioned near major transport links including the Pacific and Logan Motorways, and nestled beside Karawatha Forest Park, our school benefits from strong connectivity and a unique natural backdrop. Logan's economy continues to grow, with over 27,800 local businesses, 97.6% of which are small enterprises. Key industries include health care, construction, education, and transport, all of which align with the career pathways we promote through WWOW.

Our focus on positive learning outcomes, connected pathways, and excellence in music, sport, and whole-school improvement ensures our students graduate empowered to live lives of choice—with a deep respect for Country and community.

Our staff and students are proud to be Woodridge Wolves, and continue to make a positive impact on the world, year after year!

We look forward to meeting you!
