Work has begun on our new cafe and dining space, in a large project that will provide many opportunities for our students to refine their hands-on skills.
Principal Kathleen Janecek visited the Year 11 Construction students as they worked with their instructor on dismantling the fixtures inside the building that will see a complete overhaul to turn it into a contemporary dining space.
A large wooden deck will be built, wrapping around two sides of the building and incorporating a tall tree that is already on the site. This will provide shade, along with several shade sails.
The attached kitchen will be housed in a converted 12 metre shipping container and a concrete ramp will be poured by students. The outdoor funiture will be built and maintained by our Furnishing students, who have already constructed a coffee van which will sit alongside the ramp.
Once complete, the cafe/restaurant will be an excellent learning space for our Hospitality students, and will be available for hire by the community. This will provide our students with even more opportunities to interact with the public and refine their serving skills.
