Woodridge State High School prides itself on developing Empowered, Resilient… World Changing students. To foster and build our young people we offer three Excellence Programs:
- Leadership Excellence & Academic Program (LEAP)
- The Junior Music Academy (JMA)
- High Performance Sport (HPS)
We believe that every student can achieve to high standards given the right time and support and our Scholarships are designed to ensure accessibility to Excellence Programs for all students.
We encourage all students applying for Excellence Programs to also apply for a Scholarship. Details of the programs and scholarships as well as the application process, are outlined below.

Leadership Excellence & Academic Program (LEAP) The Leadership Excellence & Academic Program works to build the capabilities of our students by focusing on the key 21st Century skills of collaboration and teamwork, critical and creative thinking and communication. There are several areas within this program that students could nominate for, including: 1. Esports 2. STEAM (Science, Technologies, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) 3. Leadership 4. Academics. Specifically, students may:
- Participate in Wednesday afternoon Next Steps to Success lessons focused on developing their nominated areas;
- Work with a mentor at key junctures throughout the year;
- Participate in the Leadership Camp and running of the Group Project;
- Compete in various competitions throughout the year.

The Junior Music Academy (JMA) The Junior Music Academy aims to extend and enrich junior school students who have an interest in music. This program fosters and cultivates music excellence in the areas of composing, performing and responding to music.
Specifically, students: - Undertake specialised JMA classes as part of their elective options;
- Partake in instrumental music lessons and programs (including school band);
- Participate in the Arts Festival, eents involving our feeder primary schools and othe special events;
- Participate in chosen Next Steps to Success classes on Wednesday afternoons.

High Performance Sport (HPS) The High Performance Sport Program aims to develop exceptional athletes who excel not only in their sport but also in life, through a holistic approach that emphasizes physical and mental wellbeing, academic and career readiness, and the development of strong character and integrity. Our excellence program is dedicated to creating a supportive environment where every student-athlete can reach their full potential, both on and off the field, and emerge as well-rounded individuals prepard for diverse post-school pathways. Specifically, students: - Undertake HPE Australian curriculum in HPS classess with highly specialised sport specific teachers and coaches;
- Athlete development through Next Steps to Success program classes with a focus on post school pathways, officiating; coaching; leadership; mindset; and fitness;
- Participate in a range of interschool, regional, amd state competitions for their sport.

Year 7 - Excellence and Scholarship Application Process
Step 1 - The first stage of the application process is to complete the relevant Excellence Program application/s below. While students can apply for more than one Excellence Program, they can only participate in ONE Excellence Program, including only one sub category e.g. LEAP - E sports.

Step 2 - Submit the application ALONG WITH A COMPLETED ENROLMENT FORM, in person to the Administration Office at Woodridge State High School, or via email to office@woodridgeshs.eq.edu.au. You will also need to supply your students' most recent report card and NAPLAN results (if available).
Applications close at 3pm on Friday 5 September 2024 (Term 3 Week 9).
Please note that completion of the application does not guarantee:
- enrolment to Woodridge State High School or
- entry into the Excellence Program
Step 3 - If there are a large number of applicants there may be a requirement for further supporting evidence. This would involve applicants submitting a video of their performance orparticipating in a trial day. Applicants will be notified via email if this is necessary.
Step 4 - All applicants will be notified via email as to the outcome of their application for entry into the Excellence Program by 3pm on Friday 10 October 2024 (Term 4 Week 2).
Step 5 - Applicants who receive an offer must accept OR decline the offer via email office@woodridgeshs.eq.edu.au. NO LATER THAN 3pm on Friday 31 October (Term 4 Week 5), otherwise it will be deemed you have declined your offer of a position into an Excellence Program.

Out-of-Catchment - Excellence and Scholarship Application Process
Woodridge State High School operates under an equidistant catchment area. The school's catchment map is available from EdMap.
The school's Programs of Excellence in Academics & Leadership, Junior Academy of Music and High Performance Sport are supported through the allocation of a defined number of places. Places in the Programs of Excellence will only be available to out-of-catchment enrolments once the demand for in-catchment enrolment has been met and sufficient student enrolment capacity has been reserved for future in-catchment growth.
Step 1 - Complete the relevant Out-of-Catchment Excellence Program and Scholarship Application form.
While students can apply for more than one Excellence Program, they can only participate in one Excellence Program.
Step 2 - Submit the application in person to the Administration Office at Woodridge State High School, or via email to office@woodridgeshs.eq.edu.au. You will also need to supply your students' most recent report card and NAPLAN results (if available). There is no closing date for this application. Out-of-catchment students may be added to a wait list.
Please note that completion of the application does not guarantee:
- enrolment to Woodridge State High School;
- entry into the Excellence Program; or,
- receivership of a scholarship.
Step 3 - Applicants will be notified via email if they have been successful in moving to the second stage of the process. The second stage involves an Interview with the relevant Head of Department and member of the Executive. Students may be required to provide further evidence of skill level at this stage.Step 4 - Successful applicants will be notified via email if they have been successful in their application for entry into the Excellence Program and if a scholarship will be provided; details of the enrolment procedure will also be communicated.
