Community partnerships

At Woodridge State High School, we acknowledge that parents, carers and families are the first and most important influence in a child’s life, instilling the attitudes and values that will support young people to engage in their education and contribute to broader local and global communities. The purpose of a school is to help the family educate the child.

Community partnerships can take many forms to support children’s learning and development

Parents, carers and interested community stakeholders are encouraged to take part in the running of the school through several channels to support student achievement and school improvement:

  • Attending P&C meetings.
  • Volunteering.
  • Involvement in school activities and functions.
  • Becoming involved in various sub-committees that are formed from time to time.
  • Completing and returning surveys that are distributed from time to time as part of our school review process.
  • Career mentors.
  • Industry and university partners.

Woodridge State High School also has strong links with universities, registered training organisations, TAFE and other mentoring identities to enhance student learning, promote well-being and maximise positive personal pathways for students.

To learn more about the school’s community links, read the Change Makers magazine. The Change Makers magazine is a collaborative media project led by the students at Woodridge State High School and supported by students from the School of Journalism and Communication at the University of Queensland.  The project’s aim is to build greater connections and cross-cultural understanding between the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, Pacifika, Australian and newly-arrived refugee communities in Logan City.

To find out how you can partner with the school, contact us on (07) 3290 7222 or via email: principal@woodridgeshs.eq.edu.au
